We're visiting the Blue Mosque and Süleymaniye. What are the dress rules for men and women?

Women need to cover their hair, shoulders and knees. Men should wear trousers or shorts below the knee and no sleeveless tops. Everyone takes their shoes off at the entrance; there are plastic bags or shelves for them.

I just carried a large scarf in my bag all day. It worked for my hair and as a wrap if needed. Larger mosques often lend coverings at the entrance, but having your own is easier.

Avoid visiting during the five daily prayers, especially Friday midday prayer. Tourists are usually asked to wait outside during prayer times.
